Janet has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an advertising specialty from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree in marketing from the University of Texas at Dallas. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Janet worked in advertising agencies and film studios as an art director and owned her own design firm. Her work has been honored with awards from national and local organizations.
After completing her master’s degree, Janet was hired by the Texas Society of CPAs. She currently leads the Marketing and Communications department. Her responsibilities include developing and implementing marketing plans and communication programs, membership recruitment and retention, public relations, career awareness, design and content of the TSCPA website and all publications for TSCPA, TSCPA CPE Foundation and other TSCPA-related entities.
Janet is also an adjunct instructor at Brookhaven Community College where she teaches marketing. She has taught at Brookhaven since 1992. By utilizing both traditional and emerging channels and synchronizing messages across them all, the desired outcomes are achieved effectively and efficiently and the brand identity is strengthened. Kay creates marketing communications that reach the right prospects with the right messages and maximize return on the financial investment.
To stay current in the field, Kay has been a Board Member with the DFW Chapter of the American Marketing Association for the past four years in several positions. During this economic downturn that has affected so many marketers, she has been gratified to continue building her expertise and collaborative networks through her participation in the DFW AMA. Kay is enthused about maintaining the chapter’s records and participating in its governance in 2011-2012 as Board Secretary. She appreciates the opportunity to continue to serve in this key role.

Amy Alexander is up for consideration for the Treasurer position on the DFW AMA board. Amy has served the DFW chapter with the market research SIG, and the volunteer and check-in committees, with her enthusiastic support. Her background managing marketing budgets will ensure accurate accounting, early notification of any problem budget areas, and that the rest of the marketing populace doesn’t have to deal with those pesky numbers.
From a marketing philosophy, Amy is a proponent of developing community with customers, where marketing spurs conversation and adds value with relevant and personalized information. Beyond the art of connecting with people, true marketing success comes from strategic planning, detailed and targeted audience segmentation and in-depth analysis of effectiveness, ROI and P&L.
Amy’s background is comprehensive and evolved, and she has maintained a focus in the evolution of online marketing tools and strategies. At Stratmark, a direct marketing agency for non-profits, Amy served organizations that serve. In the interactive function, Amy managed the implementation of website redesigns, widgets and Facebook applications. Prior to that, Amy managed in a variety of functions at Texas Instruments, bringing efficiency, innovation and excellence to online, print and video. Complicated subject matter was simplified while results were maximized within budget constraints. In addition, Amy’s market research using both quantitative and qualitative strategies brought customer focus to product introductions, marketing campaigns and website usability.
